The gang’s all here, as Rusty Shackles joins the whole show, including our interview with special guest James Lucas Jones, the editor-in-chief of Oni Press. He talks to us about his history with comics, hate mail to editors, and his feelings on the personality of Oni as a publishing house. Also, apparently the crew decided to get drunk for every other segment completely independently of each other.
The Rundown:
- Please visit Oni Press‘s website to find out everything you’d ever want to know about them. Purchase their books through our sidebar, or on Amazon.
- Also, while you’re at it, check out the website of Jamie S. Rich, who actually happens to be my favorite movie critic over at DVDTalk.com.
- This is the Whirling Time Warper Lego set.
- Dave Campbell’s blog post about the Meatloaf ad can be found here.
- If you want to know what the guy from Man vs. Food looks like, here he is.
- Sims has been churning out great content at not only The ISB, but also at ComicsAlliance and Heavy.com. Please check them out if you get a chance.
- Check out AdamWarRock.com for some fresh rhymes and dope beats.
Oni Press = greatest comic publisher of the past eight years.
And I don’t mind saying it might just be the overall best publisher ever.
Favorite Oni book: Spaghetti Western, Courtney Crumrin a close second.
Also, big ups to whoever’s decision it was to unleash Local in a massive hardcover (which I of course bought the day it came out).
Watch out for his Shun Goku Cancel move.
It’s complete cheese, but it works.
I kinda want to see Rusty draw all the guests on a single image the art has been spectacular
thanks Rick. Hmm…no link to Man Vs. Food in the show notes.
Independent inebriation
There’s a reason for that, Shackles.
“Also, while you’re at it, check out the website of Jamie S. Rich, who actually happens to be my favorite movie critic over at DVDTalk.com. ”
Ha. (That’s not a derisive “ha.” either.) I also review for DVD Talk, and that’s how I first got to know Jamie. Always neat to see completely different interests unexpectedly collide like that. War Rocket Ajax was already my favorite podcast, and now it’s whatever’s one-up above that.
I love War Rocket Ajax!
Need pics of Chris as Lucha Lantern! Where does one get an El Generico mask?
Eugene asked for some topics of discussion for shows that don’t have a guest. I would love to hear your opinions on:
1) BEST Kevin Smith comic EVER.
2) WORST Kevin Smith comic EVER.
3) If your choice of WORST Kevin Smith comic is his Spider-man miniseries (as it should be in a fair and just world), then 2ND WORSE Kevin Smith comic EVER.
4) Why the Sim’s hate for Brian Michael Bendis?
and finally,
5) Best NERDCORE rapper.
I won’t comment on whether Chris looks like the Man v. Food guy, but I actually met the dude and his crew at a comic shop in Philly.
Coincidence?
Probably.
was he there to eat something? Man Vs. Food – Can he eat all the unsold Essential Dazzlers?!
