Episode 58 – Embrace the Kookiness f/ Jim Zubkavich

We managed to get an in somehow and get Jim Zubkavich, creator of Skullkickers and editor/writer of a whole bunch of Street Fighter comics, to talk to us this week! We get Jim to explain what possessed him to allow Chris Sims to write a story in the latest issue of Skullkickers (#6, in stores now), to talk at length about Street Fighter and to answer the burning question of whether there’ll ever be a boy born who can swim as fast as a shark. Episode 56 – The WRAting Game f/David Wolkin and Jen Vaughn

Love is in the air in this week’s special Valentine’s Day episode, as lucky bachelorette Jen Vaughn picks between Chris, Matt and third chair David Wolkin in our very own version of the Dating Game! Romance and awkwardness abound. We also graciously thank the surprisingly large group of donors from the first days of our War Rocket Ajax pledge drive, and beg for more money. Also: Find out the disaster that was Matt’s Jeopardy! online test!

The War Rocket Ajax Pledge Drive!

First of all, thanks immensely to everyone who has already donated. Frankly, we’re surprised anyone would part with their money just because they like to listen to us joke around for a while each week. For those who have given enough to get an incentive, we’ll be in touch soon.

We figured it would be a good idea to put our incentive offers in writing here, just so you guys are clear on ’em and you don’t have to go back and find that part of this week’s episode again. Plus, we’ve added a new one! So here they are:

  • Any donation results in us reading your name out on the show.
  • $25 gets you a piece of digital art from one of our artist pals.
  • $50 gets you signed copies of Matt’s supervillain how-to book, Hate You Forever, and Resurrection #8, Chris’s first published comic. Also, our good friend and theme-song rapper Adam Warrock will send you one of these two t-shirts for free, while sizes last!
  • $100 means you get to be third chair on an episode of War Rocket Ajax!
  • And a $1,000 donation gets you Chris Sims for a night (though anything beyond hand holding will have to be negotiated between you and him).

Thanks again, everybody. We’re going to try to not be too obnoxious about this, and we appreciate everyone who listens to the show.

Episode 55 – Hairy Lasagna f/ Curt Franklin and Chris Haley

The ban has been lifted! That’s right, Curt Franklin and Chris Haley of Let’s Be Friends Again join us again for a show full of inappropriateness about Crocodile Dundee, Ernest, characters from ’80s commercials, cinnamon, a challenge involving lasagna and a chest, Joel Schumacher and “the bush.” Plus, we talk about today’s big LBFA/Adam Warrock announcement! If that wasn’t enough, Chris and I kick off our big pledge drive!

The Rundown

  • Attention MaxtotheMax: Don’t listen to this episode. For your own good.
  • Play the Episode 55 drinking game! Take a shot every time you hear an awkward pause (and I edited some out).
  • The donate button is right over there in the sidebar, if you’re interested.
  • I apologize for the weird cut right at the beginning of the interview. Not sure how that happened, because when I listened to the rough cut of the interview it wasn’t like that. Anyway, the question that is missing is about how Chris, Curt and Chris all met.
  • In case you were stumped by the whole discussion of Idris Elba.
  • U-Decide! Yo! Noid vs. Cool Spot vs. McKids
  • Chris’s Rec: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic (That’s real.)

24-hour delay! Big news!

You’re probably wondering right about now, “Where the hell is the show?” Well, turns out our guests, Curt Franklin and Chris Haley of Let’s Be Friends Again, had a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT they wanted to talk about on our show. However, Comics Alliance is the site that’s going to break said news tomorrow. So rather than scoop Chris’s very own employer, we’re pushing the show back a day. We’ll be here with our two-hour-plus show tomorrow at noon!

In the meantime, get caught up with Awesome Hospital or check out my new Content Farm Tumblr!
