Your ranking of Kaine really low makes me think his Scarlet Spider run would be a good choice for Comics Catch Up. It woupdnt put him super hogh, but would definitely move him up.
I was pretty invested in Spider-Man at the time that the Clone Saga. He was/is my favorite superhero. I kept reading those darn books trying to make it to the end of the story, but it just kept going. The plot and its eventual conclusion were so unsatisfying that I read an issue or two more and then just stopped picking up Spider-Man books.
Since that time, I have not picked up an ongoing Spider-Man book and can’t recall the last time that I picked up a back issue. I still cared enough about the character to write my college essay about Spider-Man, but I just couldn’t bring myself to read his books anymore after that point. For what it’s worth, I don’t think I would have had a problem with Ben Reilly if he had been positioned as a new hero who works with Spider-Man or even a replacement if Peter Parker died. The revelation that Ben was the real Spider-Man felt like it tarnished those old issues of Spider-Man and messed me up something fierce.
All that being said, I think your placement of the clones was perfectly reasonable. Always happy to hear your thoughts on this stuff even if it bites into the all-important checks and recs time.
