Episode 49 – More Than a Feeling f/ Evan “Funk” Davies

It’s an episode of firsts this week! Chris unveils a brand new segment, our guest, Evan “Funk” Davies, reveals the origin of his nickname and his methods for selecting music for his show on WFMU, and Matt reveals, for the first time ever, his plan to use Gandhi’s ghost to collect huge gambling winnings. Unfortunately, it’s also WRA’s first completely Euge-free show, but don’t hold that against us.

The Rundown

Comics Talked About:

  • Amazing Spider-Man #649
  • The Walking Dead #79
  • Detective Comics #871
  • Chris also talked about Dungeons and Dragons #1, but the audio for that part got corrupted. The short version: He really liked it.

  1. Two things:

I loved last year’s Christmas Special. It’s cool that this year’s holiday jam won’t just be a re-hash, but I’m letting it be known that last year’s collection of sketches had its fans.

And secondly, Evan isn’t the only one to occasionally be taken in by Scharpling and Wurster’s bits. I listen to The Best Show in podcast form and generally save it for when I’m at work due to the certainty of profanity-free entertainment. More than a few of my customers heard the Springsteen biographer “interview” last week and had no idea that they were listening to something other than honest-to-goodness anecdotes about the Boss.
