Episode 69 – You Know What That Means f/Jonathan Hickman

This week we welcome South Carolina resident and writer of FF, S.H.I.E.L.D., Secret Warriors, The Red Wing and a ton of other stuff, Jonathan Hickman! Of course, we talk about the most important topic of all, barbecue. But after that, we get to Jonathan’s design work in comics, how he juggles all those books he writes, which FF character speaks in his voice, what he thinks Doctor Doom really ought to sound like, the mystery of what happened to Ed Brubaker’s jacket, and much more! Plus, we welcome yet another Hundo Club member, Luke Herr, to the show! And it’s our 69th episode so expect things to get…saucy.

  1. RE: Hush in “Gate of Gotham”/his bandages;

    I think in an issue of STREETS OF GOTHAM recently, that villain Jane Doe, thinking Hush was Bruce Wayne, cut his face off to wear, hence why he wears the bandages now. Before he was just being a poser.

  2. I think Hush wears the bandages because he’s a doctor, which is spurious but makes about as much sense as any other themed-costume villain. We should probably be glad he didn’t just inflate a surgical glove and wear that on his head.

    Is the big change to the show going to be that Chris introduces Matt with reference to his websites rather than vice versa?

  3. JESUS GAWD SIMS WE HAVE GOT TO TALK ABOUT YOUR SKIN and these thoughts obviously belong in an email….

  4. I would so much rather find inflated-surgical-glove-head guy on the last page of a comic than Hush…

  5. This episode was a bit of a puzzler for me… I could NOT remember a comic store in Pittsburgh has a life-sized Hulk. I thought I knew all of them, but I cannot remember that.

  6. Jonathan Hickman is one smart dude. It was great to hear him talk about his craft and perspective on a comics career. Highly recommend this interview for anyone getting into or working in comics.

    Great interview guys!
