  1. Chris is more wrong. Matt is less wrong. You’re more or less both wrong. And I’d say a cookie qualifies as a pie if ice cream isn’t a category.

  2. I’m with Matt on this one. I kinda prefer cakes/ cupcakes with an even distribution of frosting, as opposed to a lot all at once. But seriously, the less frosting the better. Like Matt said, pound cake is a great example.

Although I’m definitely more of a pie fan, to the point of getting birthday pie instead of cake…

    …maybe I just don’t like frosting.

  3. As a lifelong cupcake fanatic I have experimented with every method of cupcake consumption. I didn’t discover the best method until tumblr showed me the way a couple of years ago.
    1. Slice the cake in half horizontally.
    2. Flip the sliced cake piece on top of the frosting to essentially create a cupcake sandwich.
    3. Enjoy the perfect ratio of cake and frosting in every bite.
It’s especially helpful for long-nosed persons such as myself to prevent frosting from getting all up in it.

  4. Chris is entirely right, you eat the best part last. That’s what I do with everything, best part last.

  5. Eating the frosting last is like eating a plate of lettuce and then doing a shot of dressing. The frosting should compliment the cake and enhance your eating experience. It should not be a prize at the end of a grueling cake trail.

  6. I do the “eat the bottom then do the top” cupcake method myself. Seems like the only wrong way to eat a cupcake would involve eating the paper.

I agree with Frank: cookies are generally pie, unless we’re talking whoopie pies, which are basically like mutant cupcakes.

  7. Matt eats cupcakes like a normal person. Chris is eating his like a crazy person. I can’t really top waterwings’ analogy. It’s made to have both components at once.

  8. Wilson is correct. His method has the benefit of allowing you to savor and appreciate the different textures and tastes of the cupcake. Effectively, it allows the eater to better determine if icing/frosting/ganache and cake are paired appropriately.

  9. I was on the fence until waterwings’ salad analogy. Save a *little* frosting til the end maybe, but not a diabetic bolus. This ain’t an Oreo.

  10. I don’t know where you learned to eat cupcakes Chris, but you are so wrong on this one.

Wilson has is right, get a bit of cake and a bit of frosting in each bite.
