The Eisner nominations are out and we’re having a roundtable this week to talk about ’em! We invited ComicsAlliance pals David Wolkin and Dylan Todd to talk about what was missing, what people have been saying is missing, what’s surprising, the shifting nature of digital comics, and a ton more! Also, we divide ourselves into two camps in regards to Chris Ware, though we all find Building Stories just a little big daunting.

Yeah, from my understanding, or at least the only justification I understand about this “controversy” is that it’s not necessarily the judge blacklisting the Before Watchmen stuff itself but the blacklisting of those creators from the Eisners in general. And yeah, I had no idea that Darwyn Cooke still nominated for his Parker stuff which really does deflate any real controversy.
Technically Matches Malone is actually dead. I don’t know what the current continuity is, but in the first use of the alias pre-crisis he was actually a real guy who got killed, and then Batman assumed his identity. I don’t know whether Geoff Johns knows that though.
It’d be great if Geoff Johns actually did and the death of Matches Malone actually becomes a major plot point down the line, once again defeating the purpose of a new continuity.
He-Man had like, a 6 issue mini series from DC wherein the sorceress dies and He-man et al had their memories erased by skeletor. It ended just before the new series.
Matt, I will totally friend you on Simpsons if I can find your email/username
