  1. Hey guys! Really fun show– you guys really make my Mondays better.

Chris, I love that you’re talking about Fourze. That show was the best of a run of three great Kamen Rider shows, and its weirdo look at Western highschools (they have to explain what cliques are!) is super endearing. It’s like, the best. I don’t wanna be that guy– but I think it leads to some fun facts, so, uh, here we go. Fourze is pronounced Four-zay, not Four-zah– because this was the 40th anniversary show! Four-tay, four-zay? I guess it works in Japanese, I dunno. There were originally going to be a bunch of connections to previous shows– and there still are some; Nozama has a clipboard of former Kamen Riders in one show, and an organization from Kamen Rider W gets a few mentions later on. But, they had already done a big anniversary show with Kamen Rider Decade, so they cut a lot of that stuff out. They do work some of it back into Kamer Rider X Kamen Rider: MOVIE WAR MEGAMAX– and it’s great, especially when all of the KR Club dress up like their Kamen Rider namesakes.

That’s right! Each, uh, Ridey is named after a 70s Kamen Rider– Yuki Jojima is Joji Yuki, AKA Riderman, JK is Jin Keisuke, Kamen Rider X, etc… the best one is Nozama, who’s literally just Amazon, mixed up.

Anyway, the point is, I liked what you had to say about Fourze feeling like BATB– but I think it’s also got the same sensibility as Mystery Inc had: weirdo teens with a little bit of depth and a lot of heart, in a world informed by a bunch of continuity before it. And that’s awesome.

  2. I would to see a Tom Fowler drawing of Danny DeVito with no skin and a Lee Marvin hand puppet.
