Episode 174 – It Could Be Called ‘Turd’ f/Simon Oliver

Our guest this week is the writer of FBP: Federal Bureau of Physics, formerly known as Collider, Simon Oliver! We stay shockingly on-topic with our discussion of physicists in documentaries, an anti-gravity high school, the difficulty of titles, whether people can turn into boats, describing crazy physics anomalies to artists, and much more! Plus, a Charles-based Love Haters!

  1. You guys should check out the Humble Comedy bundle at HumbleBundle.com You pay what you want to get 4 comedy specials (Maria Bamford, Tig Notaro, Hannibal Buress, and Jim Norton) and if you pay over $9.30 or whatever the average is they add Louis CK, Patrice O’Neal, Todd Glass, and Gary Gulman, and a documentary called I am Comic. All that comedy talk in the show made me think you’d dig it, with 2 days left to grab. It’s a cool little bundle!

  2. Aazh’s Law is, roughly, that the best way to get correct information is not to ask a question, but to post incorrect information online.

L’il Folks was a precursor strip to Peanuts, a weekly panel strip that ran in papers from 1947 to 1950. Schulz’s preferred title for Peanuts was Good Ol’ Charlie Brown, which was run as a subtitle on the Sunday strips. And the kid in the first strip was Shermy, who, along with Violet and Patty, was one of the major characters.

It’s easy to forget how mean, and how bleak, Peanuts was, and was for a very long time.
