Only Saskatchewan has Rough Riders now. Ottawa lost its Rough Riders franchise, but has recently made a return to the league with a team called the Red Blacks. “Red Blacks” is a reference to the colours in the plaid of the lumberjacks that were the basis of Ottawa’s early economy. When I started writing this I thought I was going to dispel a myth about Canada, but I guess I just traded one for another. We’re not all lumberjacks, I swear.
