Episode 60 – Caulk Gun Taco

We welcome Colleen Coover back to the show this week to talk about the comics she drew for Marvel and Taco Bell, video games, storytelling, horror and more! Plus: Our pledge drive rolls on, and Chris talks about why the money’s coming in so handy.

The Rundown

  • Follow Colleen Coover on Twitter! We didn’t get to talk about it much on the show, but you should also read her not-at-all-a-webcomic comic Gingerbread Girl at Top Shelf 2.0!
  • If you have read the Taco Bell comics we talked about on the show but have not actually read, let us know what you think!
  • I had a lot of fun at C2E2 this weekend with our pals Euge (a.k.a. Adam Warrock) and Curt and Chris from Let’s Be Friends Again. Expect a full report next week.
  • Chris’s Rec: Pokemon Black (again)
  • Matt’s Rec: Girl Scout cookies
  • Music used: “Colleen” by Ted Leo and the Pharmacists

Comics Talked About:

  • Superman #709
  • The Sixth Gun trade
  • Parker: The Outfit

  1. The “Bioware ingenue” has a longer pedigree than Liara, going right back to Aerie in Baldur’s Gate II and Imoen in Baldur’s Gate.

  2. Lack of the Hot or Not pic makes me sad. Shows like this want me to play these new fangled “video games” you speak of. Maybe I should deviate away from Pac Man by now.

  3. I couldn’t find it, sadly.

I also forgot to link all those Rebecca Black GIFs, but I figure everyone who cares has seen them already.

  4. I had the same thing happen with JRPGS but then recently I found a game that killed me for Bethseda & Bioware games almost entirely.

Demon Souls. (Its not a full on RPG its more in the Elder Scrolls / Fallout Action RPG mixup)

Its challenging, over the top and has quickly became my favorite depiction of a Fantasy World ever portrayed in a video game, the sequel is due out this year for both the PS3 and 360 and it looks even better than the first one.
