I think that many, if not most, of the things on the quote list so far are heavily context dependent. For example, “I did it thirty-five minutes ago,” stripped of its context, could refer to some act of extreme villainy, or it could be someone talking about putting a pot roast in the oven. Because it isn’t a clever turn of phrase or an insightful comment by itself, it’s only its appearance at the end of Watchmen that makes it memorable.
